Oct 14, 2026 - Washington, D.C. - Three weeks before the midterm elections, Moms Across America and the Moms Across America Movement hosted a historic Gathering of America’s Mothers in Washington, D.C., with one common goal: to make the world a better place for children and families.
Zen Honeycutt, initiator of the event and Founding Executive Director of Moms Across America (MAA) and the Moms Across America Movement (MAAM), stated, "At a critical time in history, over twenty-five of the largest mother-led organizations in America convened to find common ground on legislative issues promoting health and safety.” The event was facilitated by a neutral facilitator, Natalie Garramone of ONEEIGHTY.
Mothers have long been considered a strategic voting bloc. This year, that fact has never felt more consequential.
Before starting Moms Across America, Honeycutt received confirmation from a California legislator that the “Legislators on The Hill are more afraid of moms than any other grassroots group out there.” But that energy has shifted- and legislators are now reaching out to mothers. Numerous elected officials and staff, including Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cotez (D-NY), Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), have met with MAA for legislative guidance. Honeycutt wanted to bring more issues from mothers' groups into the conversation.
These highly influential groups, which reach hundreds of millions of Americans, compiled a list of 24 statements on issues affecting the health and safety of our children and families. The statements, the list of supporting mothers' groups (16 organizations endorsed at the gathering, which will be updated as it grows and as organizations seek board approval), and the requested legislation are available on the Moms Across America and Moms Across America Movement websites. Topics include, but are not limited to, childcare, parental rights, pesticides, social media, censorship, regenerative agriculture, clean air, water, and food. Conversations on these challenging topics were respectful and productive.
The event grew out of decades of work. Mothers, once previously dismissed, are now being acknowledged and actively courted by everyone from political leaders to Fortune 500 corporations. The Free Press recently stated, “Moms are the most powerful political force in America.” Every major media outlet now features mothers' wisdom. “Our MAA reach in February of 2026, for example, with over 2000 mainstream media mentions, was in outlets with a reach of 5 billion,” said Honeycutt. “The mothers are being heard, and as the last election showed, when we vote, we shift elections.”
Barbara Loe Fisher of the National Vaccine Information Center stated, “An amazing gathering of moms who are leading advocates for child health issues came together and had a conversation that is going to change the world. I am so inspired by the goals we agreed on to keep our children healthy and happy as we do everything we can to protect them from harm.”
“I did not expect to find common ground with so many people, and I am shocked at how much better informed I feel after these two days. I also feel like this is a great demonstration to others—not that this was easy, but that it can be done in two days. It’s such an incredible demonstration that you created, and I am so grateful.” — Tara Taylor of Single Moms Strong
Honeycutt continued, “We are grateful to the MAHA Center, which donated the event space. Although we do not agree on all strategies, we do agree on this: we need to Make America Healthy Again. The MAHA Center’s agreement to provide the event space is an example of how the movement can work together and accomplish great things when we collaborate.”
