New Documentary Explores How the Carnivore Diet Is Changing Lives

Michaela Bardossas·

What happens when people who have struggled with chronic illness for years change the way they eat?

A new documentary, Healing Humanity, follows people who have experienced remarkable changes in their health after changing their diets, including director Kerry Mann Jr., who says the change helped him overcome lifelong depression and anxiety, resolve IBS and severe arthritis, and reverse congestive heart failure.

After changing his diet, losing more than 100 pounds and experiencing significant improvements in his health, he wanted to understand why. Was his experience a fluke? Could other people be experiencing similar results?

He spent nearly three years finding out.

Healing Humanity features 60 interviews with people and nine doctors and experts from multiple countries. The film explores the carnivore diet, chronic illness, mental health, autoimmune disease, weight loss and cancer, asking important questions about the role food plays in our health.

Among the experts featured are Harvard-trained psychiatrist Dr. Georgia Ede, heart surgeon Dr. Philip Ovadia, Professor Thomas Seyfried, and Dr. Ken Berry.

One of the people featured in the documentary is Lynn Divoky, a former nurse who spent 35 years battling chronic illness.

She saw 17 specialists before receiving diagnoses of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and Hereditary Alpha Tryptasemia in 2022. Her health struggles eventually forced her into early retirement, and she was deemed totally disabled.

After moving away from the Standard American Diet, Lynn experienced significant improvements in her symptoms, lost weight and began to regain her health.

Food is medicine. We don’t have to live with a chronic condition for the rest of our lives. What if we gave the body the nourishment it needs to function as it was designed to?

That is what makes Healing Humanity so compelling. Kerry Mann Jr. didn't set out to make a documentary. He changed his diet, experienced profound changes in his own health, and wanted to know if other people were experiencing
