Feed Your Soil

The FDA says “Feed Your Mind.” We say feed your soil first. Healthy soil grows healthy food — without glyphosate, without GMOs, and without corporate greenwashing.

The Problem: Glyphosate Destroys Living Soil

Glyphosate — the active ingredient in Roundup — is the most widely used herbicide on the planet. Over 300 million pounds are sprayed on American farmland every year. It doesn’t just kill weeds. It kills the life beneath our feet.

Peer-reviewed research shows that glyphosate at any detectable level harms soil microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and earthworm populations. These organisms are the foundation of nutrient cycling. Without them, soil becomes inert dirt — dependent on ever-increasing synthetic inputs to produce food with ever-declining nutritional value.

What Glyphosate Does to Soil

  • Kills beneficial mycorrhizal fungi that help plants absorb nutrients
  • Reduces earthworm populations by up to 50% at field application rates
  • Chelates essential minerals (manganese, zinc, iron), making them unavailable to plants
  • Persists in soil for months to years, accumulating with repeated application
  • Disrupts the shikimate pathway in soil bacteria essential for nutrient production

Greenwashing Alert: “Regenerative” Claims from Bayer/Monsanto

Bayer (which acquired Monsanto in 2018) now markets itself as a leader in “regenerative agriculture.” Their sustainability reports tout cover cropping, reduced tillage, and “carbon-smart” farming — while continuing to sell billions of dollars of glyphosate-based herbicides worldwide.

This is classic greenwashing. You cannot regenerate soil while simultaneously applying the chemical that destroys its biological foundation. True regenerative agriculture eliminates synthetic herbicides, builds organic matter, and restores the microbial communities that make soil alive.

“You can’t spray a biocide on living soil and call it regenerative. That’s like pouring bleach in a fish tank and calling it a coral reef restoration project.”
