In California a Pro GMOer pushed through a new bill that Governor Brown signed into law: AB 2470-new section in the CA Food & Ag Code Section 52334. It states: " Not withstanding any other law, on and after Jan. 1, 2015, a city, county, district, including a charter city, shall not adopt or enforce an ordinance that regulates plants, crops, or seeds without the consent of the State Secretary of Food and Agriculture." ( Who is, of course PRO GMO)
They have stopped us from causing any other GMO free zones and removed democracy from our Ag system. According to the Princeton Review, America is now an oligarcy, run by corporations. What are we going to do about this?
Those passing a law by the end of the year will be grandfathered in.
It is urgent that we get ordinances passed for Roundup/Glyphosate free and GMO Free zones by supervisors before the end of this year. I know this seems impossible but anything IS possible and at the very least we need to alert our city councils that our local rights have been stolen from us! We need them to protect us and speak up!
Roundup Ready bluegrass and 2,4-D/Glyphosate enlist resistant crops are on the horizon. I need help with getting letters written, printed and mailed, with calls and making appointments. Come with your lap top and we will write, print, stamp and mail together! It would be fun to work together!
