Safe Weed Control - Moms Across America

Kill Weeds Without Toxic Chemicals!

The only thing worse than weeds ruining a landscape is spraying your own property with harmful chemicals like glyphosate. While pulling weeds by hand is often the best solution, it can take a lot of time and effort, and it may even be impossible to get all your tiny unwanted weeds by hand.

If you want the ease of a weed-killing spray without the harsh chemicals of products like RoundUp, your solution has arrived! Containing 100% natural ingredients, Pulverize makes killing weeds a worry-free breeze. Using active ingredients like iron and ammoniated salts of fatty acids, Pulverize is the only herbicide you don’t have to feel guilty about using.

Approved for Organic Gardening

Although it’s not written on the label, Pulverize is approved for organic gardening. Recognizing that too many people doubt the effectiveness of organic weed killers, the creators of Pulverize deliberately left this information off the label in hopes that they could bring this effective natural alternative to more mainstream buyers.

Pulverize directions are simple:

  • Step 1: Shake well before each use.
  • Step 2: Spray weeds until foliage is wet on a dry, sunny day.
  • Step 3: Repeat treatment every 2 to 3 weeks to control new growth.

Pulverize can be used to control: Annual bluegrass, chickweed, corn spurry, dandelion, groundsel, lamb's-quarters, large crabgrass, mouse-eared chickweed, mustards, plantain, redroot pigweed, round-leaved mallow, sheep sorrel, shepherd's purse, stinkweed, thistle, moss, algae and lichens.

The active ingredient of PULVERIZE WEED & GRASS KILLER, is Ammoniated Soap of Fatty Acids. Commonly called “herbicidal soaps,” Ammoniated Soap of Fatty Acids are very prevalent in our environment and can be found in food, soil, etc., and because they are so common the FDA has classified them as “Generally Regarded as Safe.” These fatty acids are expected to break down in less than one day by microbial activity in the soil. When they break down, the chemical components become part of the natural soil matrix and are not expected to migrate off the application site to cause harm to non-target organisms.

The label also reads “Inert Ingredients.” Although this is proprietary information, we have reviewed the inerts carefully and can say that they are primarily water. The other ingredients are safe when used as directed and are commonly used in other household products. In other words - you would recognize them and feel comfortable with them as we do.

Dr. Don Huber, a 50-year plant pathologist and Professor Emeritus of Perdue University also reviewed the full formulation ingredients. His statement regarding all of the ingredients in Pulverize is as follows, “These are ‘contact’ versus systemic (internal) herbicides and when used judiciously and according to label directions should not pose a problem." In layman’s terms, Pulverize Weed & Grass Killer works by stripping the surface coating on leaf surfaces, causing dehydration. So it works top down, and does not have to be absorbed into the roots of the plants like Roundup®. And because we know how important it is to know how to guide your neighbors, pets, and family to interact with products like PULVERIZE once it’s been applied, people and pets can reenter the area once it dries (the residues do not continue to be harmful for years like glyphosate-based herbicides) and you can replant five days after it’s applied.

Also, we are very happy to let you know that PULVERIZE WEED & GRASS KILLER is for organic gardening, even though it doesn’t say it on the label. According to James, the reason for this decision is strategic. “We know that there are a lot of consumers who want to buy organic, but the majority of folks still don’t understand that the word organic does not always mean more expensive or less effective. Because we want to appeal to all consumers and present a strong alternative to products like Roundup®, we’ve decided to leave it off the label, but we have the paperwork, including approved EPA claims to show that this product is ‘for organic gardening’ and we’re happy to share that with folks needing the proof.”

Moms Across America fact checked this claim and we can confirm that the formulation has been reviewed by a nationally trusted third party expert, OMRI – The Organic Materials Review Institute - a private nonprofit organization that determines whether or not a product qualifies as organic under the USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP).
