In the past year, the World Health Organization has deemed glyphosate, Monsanto’s main profit producing herbicide, a probable carcinogen. Monsanto’s Roundup sales dropped 34% in 2015 and they are cutting 16% of their workforce. The women, who will be presenting resolutions on behalf of John Harrington of Harrington Investments and the non-profit As You Sow, intend to remind Monsanto that by choosing a new direction, away from genetic engineering and toxic chemicals, they can save jobs, protect their profits, the health of citizens and the planet.
You can listen to the Monsanto shareholder meeting live on the Monsanto website. The meeting is at 1:30pm January 29, 2016. Follow up report and links to the recording will be found at www.momsacrossamerica.org and www.harringtoninvestments.com
