Taking things into their own hands, Virginia teachers launch GoFundMe to ensure students still get fed as schools close for coronavirus. The teachers hope to raise enough money to give all 8,300 students in their district a $100 gift card.

Spanish Chef José Andrés is transforming eight of his acclaimed restaurants in New York City and Washington, DC, into gourmet soup kitchens for those struggling to make ends meet in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.While the to-go only meals are $7 for those who can’t afford it, it’s free for those who can’t.

I’ve been reading some heartbreaking stories about elderly or at-risk people not being able to grocery shop due to fear of exposure. I’m local and healthy and willing to lend a helping hand if anyone needs me to get meds, shop, arm wrestle for toilet paper. Please holler. We need to band together during this unfortunate event.

While closed, Disneyland is donating its excess food.

Disneyland might be closed, but that doesn't mean the magic stops there. Kyleigh Johnson, the external communications manager of Disneyland Resort, revealed in a blog post that the company will be donating all excess food from Disneyland and Disney California Adventure to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
