Brigadier General Nazmul, director of Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital, said that doctors have suspended the complete shutdown program until 8:00 PM on Monday (September 2) assuring the arrest of the attackers within 24 hours. He said this to reporters at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday (September 1) evening. The DMEC director said that the doctors have withdrawn from the complete shutdown. Indoor critical departments including the emergency department of the hospital will remain open. He also said that the security of DMK Hospital will be ensured from now on. All will return to work after the arrest of the accused. Meanwhile, health adviser Nurjahan Begon said in the evening press conference that the demands of the doctors were justified, "a disgraceful incident has happened to them." The vice-chancellor of the private university BUBT will be asked to know who was involved in the attack. The attackers should be arrested within 24 hours as soon as possible. But Nurjahan Begum also said that it will take time to appoint the health police. An indefinite strike was called across the country to protest the beating of doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The doctors demanded to ensure the maximum safety of the doctors and identify the culprits and bring them under the law as soon as possible. After the incident, two platoons of BGB were deployed on Sunday afternoon to protect the doctors.
