Sierra Madre 4th of July Parade and Celebration

This is a 1.5 - 2 mile parade route along Sierra Madre Blvd. From Michillinda Ave. to the Rec Center on the east end of the city. I will be leading or following the group with a 1961 Chevy Apache Pick up truck that has been turned into a farm on wheels. I will be acting as a support vehicle for all marchers as well. This is a rather unconventional (funny) parade that is done "Sierra Madre style" and is a lot of fun. It is VERY well attended. Come prepared to get wet as the last part of the route is a designated water zone. Individual banner and signs encouraged as are imaginative costumes (think Frankenfruits and Frankenveggies????) I am looking for individual school liasons/ leaders in the area who can generate a good turnout for us from EVERY school....all ages welcome...bikes and wagons and other well decorated vehicles are a possibility too.

Truck Garden is in place at 360 Ramona….you can’t miss it….looking beeee utiful and running great…..I will be there at 9 for anyone who needs to be early…parade starts at 10 …so if you get there after then start looking for us at that address and then just head west on Ramona…north on Sunnyside and east on Sierra Madre Blvd. til you find us…parade runs west to east on Sierra Madre Blvd all the way to Rancho. There is not room in the truck for me to return everyone to the starting point, so have your rides pick you up at the corner of Rancho and San Gabriel Court or at the Rec Center in Sierra Madre….see ya soon!!!

Our official place to line up for our march is at 360 RAMONA in Sierra Madre. We are entry #71 in the parade. Wear Red white and blue….or costumes…or if you would like to purchase a tee shirt I have 5 of them in various sizes/slogans that you can purchase at cost from me for $12. Bring signs….MAAM asks that you do not attack Monsanto…you be critical of them but not hateful….we would like to have a mellow/family friendly presence. Parade starts at 10…be in line about 9:30…it can get chaotic and you might not be able to get around town well if you come much later…Take Orange Grove to Lima and go north on Lima to Ramona. Get out there and walk west on Ramona to #360. I will be leading the group in a dark green 61 Chevy pickup “Truck Garden” (hard to miss). We will be attempting to get people along the route to join us as we go. I am hoping that we can double or triple our number by the end of the route. We are near the end of the parade so if people do join us they will not miss much of the parade.

After the Parade you can have your rides pick you up at the corner of Rancho and Santa Anita Court…or at the Rec Center on Sierra Madre Blvd. I ahve a great plan to make this really fun that I will explain to you all Thursday morning when we assemble….this is going to be MOST AWESOME!!! Bring as many as you can convince to come….See you all on the 4th (THursday) at 9:30….360 W. Ramona!!! oxoxoxoxo

I also put in an order for a few Tee Shirts. I will have 5 in various sizes. They are $12 if anyone wants one, they will be available on a first come first serve basis.

okay all of you GMO Marchers!!!! I need help painting the banners for the truck and maybe making some signs while we got the paint out. I have to work most of the weekend….but am free until 3:30 on Saturday. We can meet at my house at 11 and that should give us enough time….any volunteers out there???? I live at 565 Woodland Drive (right next to Mary’s Market in the Sierra Madre Canyon)….Lunch will be served.

hey everyone….if you want to march in one of the tee shirts available on this site…please order by the 16th. Keep watching here for the staging location for our group. I will post info as soon as I have it. please call me is you have any questions….I will also need help painting banners for my truck and for the group to carry in a couple of weeks. I would love to have a meeting with everyone also to brainstorm a few ideas …maybe costume/sign ideas. gie me some feed back on the best times to meet.
