On April 29, hundred-of-thousands of Americans will march on DC to advocate for climate justice. On Saturday April 29, the Queens Action Council (QuAC) will bring the spirit of the march to our backyard so that the people who are disproportionately impacted by environmental injustice can advocate locally.
QuAC is teaming up with community leaders and nearly 20 different climate and food justice based organizations for a Northwest Queens "NYCHA" crawl. We will walk from the community center at NYCHA Woodside (10 AM), to Astoria HANAC (11:15 AM arrival), to Ravenswood community Center (12:15 PM arrival), and finally to Queensbridge/Jacob Riis Settlement Center (1:15 PM arrival). There will be a range of resources and activities to equip locals with the tools to become stronger ambassadors for climate and food justice in their community, including composting tips, EPA advocacy tools, Keystone (Standing Rock) advocacy resources, food storage tips, local food guides, farmers' market info, waterfront kayaking workshop sign ups, and petition signings for powerplants to stop using the toxic oils that continue to pollute Northwest Queens and beyond.
