Mission Viejo, CA- Today Moms Across America released glyphosate test results revealing that all of the five popular orange juice brands tested positive for glyphosate weed killer. Moms Across America founder Zen Honeycutt stated, "The discovery of glyphosate residue in orange juice is unacceptable, especially since a branch of the World Health Organization designated glyphosate a probable carcinogen, two years ago, back in the spring of 2015. The EPA has had ample time to revoke the license of this chemical and restrict its use in our food and beverage crops. As confirmed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, our children, who frequently drink orange juice for breakfast, are especially vulnerable to pesticides and measures should be taken immediately to protect them."
The average person in America consumes 2.7 gallons of orange juice and 3 pounds of oranges each year. “100% Pure Orange Juice” is a common claim used by many juice brands that allow consumers to feel safe when serving it to their families on a daily basis. Finding glyphosate in food and beverages is becoming less of a surprise and more of a serious health risk, as honey, cereals, bagels, eggs, snacks, wine, beer, and most recently Ben & Jerry’s Ice cream have tested positive for glyphosate. The EU is currently reviewing evidence of coverups by the manufacturer and is considering banning the use of glyphosate herbicides.
Glyphosate is the declared active chemical ingredient in Roundup, manufactured by Monsanto, and 750 other brands of glyphosate-based herbicides. Roundup is the most widely used herbicide in the world, often sprayed as a weedkiller between citrus trees, found in irrigation water and rain.
Two samples of each of the following brands were tested for both the herbicide glyphosate and its residue AMPA. Positive results ranged from 4.33 parts per billion (“ppb”) to an alarming 26.05 ppb. Studies have shown that only 0.1 ppb of glyphosate destroys beneficial gut bacteria, weakening the immune system, which can lead to a wide variety of health and neurological issues. Additionally, 1 part per trillion (ppt) has been shown to stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells. 1 ppt is equivalent to 1 drop in the water of 22 Olympic swimming pools combined.
Conventional citrus growers often insist that harsh chemical herbicides are necessary to maintain crop production and to prevent competition for water between weeds and the orange trees. However, Dr. Don Huber, a professor at Purdue University, a farmer educator, and a plant pathologist with 50 years of experience, has stated that glyphosate is not safe and can, in fact, increase water usage, disease and can be detrimental to citrus growth, soil and irrigation water quality. The USGS showed that counties in Florida had as much as two tons per square mile of residual glyphosate/AMPA in their soil.
Moms Across America and consumers call on Congress to require the EPA to revoke the license of glyphosate, as is being discussed in Europe, and for farmers to switch to organic regenerative practices to protect their families, farm workers, consumers, wildlife, and the environment.

In 2015 the USDA reported orange juice was the most consumed fruit juice in the United States and oranges were second most consumed fruit overall, just slightly behind apples. The average person in America consumes 2.7 gallons of orange juice and 3 pounds of oranges each year. “100% Pure Orange Juice” is a common claim used by many juice brands that allow consumers to feel safe when serving it to their families on a daily basis. However, recent testing revealed that every one of the five top orange juice brands Moms Across America sent to an accredited lab tested positive for glyphosate weed killer.
As confirmed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, our children (who frequently drink orange juice for breakfast) are especially vulnerable to pesticides and measures should be taken immediately to protect them."
Two samples of each of the following brands were tested for both the herbicide glyphosate and its residue AMPA. Positive results ranged from 4.33 parts per billion (“ppb”) to an alarming 26.05 ppb. Chemical farming proponents will claim that these levels are too low to cause harm, and are definitely lower than the EPA's allowable glyphosate residue level of 30 ppm on citrus, but these claims are irrelevant in comparison to new data. Studies have shown that only 0.1 ppm (100ppb) of glyphosate destroys beneficial gut bacteria, weakening the immune system, which can lead to a wide variety of health and neurological issues. Considering the standard American diet high wheat, sugar, oatmeal, soy, and corn, with levels of up to 6000 ppb or 1.67ppm have been detected, a child can easily exceed the 100 ppb if a glass of orange juice is added at 26 ppb. Additionally, 1 part per trillion (ppt) has been shown to stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells. 1 ppt is equivalent to 1 drop in the water of 22 olympic swimming pools combined. Considering that studies show glyphosate bioaccumulates in bone marrow, any amount ingested is unacceptable.
Recently, when we posted this image on Facebook, we reached over 770,000 people. We can reach millions a week now through various forms of social media. However, we need to reach billions to shift the market place around the world to organic and protect our children, the future of the human race.
We know that within us lies the power to accomplish almost anything, and together we are stronger.
This is why today we reach out to ask you...could you support us....who do you know...who knows a millionaire or billionaire?
I know it may seem uncouth to ask...but ask we must.
For four years we have had no full time paid staff. I, myself and many others choose to work 8, 10 or 13 hours a day because we are compelled, driven, passionate...a few consultants who work part time for minimal pay, and we have had many volunteers come and go, get sick, have babies, move etc...so the support for Moms Across America is passionate but sporadic. It has also not been sustainable or as effective as we could be.
We were fortunate in that during the first three years of MAA my husband was able to support our family with his IT job of 14 years at a health care company and I was able to volunteer. Things have changed however, he lost his position just after we put billboards up outside of Monsanto last January. Coincidentally one of his company's customers (in a different division) was Monsanto. Whether those two things are related is unknown...all it means now is that my work with Moms Across America must be sustainable. I am delighted that my husband has started a consulting business for organic companies called www.organic-results.com but we currently we cannot depend on a steady income like we did before.
This year many of our previous sponsors are not donating to our cause, they are instead supporting young farmers because the supply of organic food is so scarce. We understand this and greatly appreciate their commitment.
It is necessary that our work, our focus on the moms who buy 85% of the food, continues however because without the moms switching to organic, we cannot change the food supply; food manufacturers won't change ingredients and farmers won't plant non GMO and organic. We must keep going and find other sources of support.
We think the people who are most affected, people who love children with health issues, are the people who have the most commitment to make a difference. We are asking you to think of people with means who may have a child or loved ones with health issues. Like you and I, they will understand the urgency of the matter.
We are out to raise awareness about GMOs and toxins, support leadership, and create healthy communities!
Together we can transform the food supply and the future of the planet.
This is imperative.
Just last week, the USDA cancelled their study into whether or not QR codes for GMO labeling will be used by consumers, due to industry pressure.
The EPA also caved to industry pressure to not hold a 4 day panel inquiry Oct 18 regarding whether glyphosate is carcinogenic or not.
This morning I received notice that two more GMO potato varieties were approved.
Everyday my inbox is flooded with Pro GMO propaganda and claims that Roundup is safe.
The fact is that GMO chemical farming is contaminating our food, water, breast milk, vaccines and more. It must stop.
The proponents of chemical farming are merging, investing more and more in marketing and in new ways to poison the planet.
We need help.
Many other organizations in our cause that we work with have budgets in the tens of millions of dollars and their staff are fairly paid.
We think our work has been of great contribution to the cause and our nation as well, and also warrants funding. It is time for us to have full time, fairly paid staff on the East, Mid West, and West coasts, an paid position for myself, the director, and a local assistant. We are looking to raise $300,000 which also supports materials, utilities, travel, and legal. If we were able to raise $500,000 we could also give money to community projects, do video and PSA projects, have a Moms Across America conference and expand our Mother Across The World coalition.
A consistent team and staff members in each region is crucial, as we are a grassroots organization which supports over 400 leaders who have created over 750 events in all 50 states in the first three years- marching in parades, movie nights, speaker series, GMO free potlucks, and rallies. The current opportunities for expansion and outreach are far beyond the possibility for one or two people to be able to handle part time. Regional staff will support expansion, bring a sense of unity and accomplishment to their area, and can better address local issues. We do not have to pay for regional offices, our staff will work from home, and we will employ moms who have already been working hard in this cause.
So we ask you to think for a moment. Who do you know that knows someone, an uncle, aunt, CEO of a company, retired doctor, or celebrity that might seriously consider a large donation?
I believe that together, we have all we need. There are plenty of people with plenty of money who just need the right organization to donate to. We think we are that organization. There is nothing more important than our children and when we empower moms, we can do anything!
Please contact us today with a connection to individuals who might have a brief conversation with me about the importance of our work.
With Gratitude and Love,

Support the Toxin Free Town Tour!
I am Zen Honeycutt of Moms Across America and my family and I are driving cross country on the National Toxin Free Town Tour to raise awareness about toxins and empower citizens to take action and get Roundup and toxic chemicals OUT of their Towns and GMOs off their tables.
We are able and willing to meet with locals and supporters in 40 stops roundtrip and give out free flyers, banners and materials to help create healthy communities. Every person who receives these materials gives their community new solutions and reverses the health crisis America! It's time!!!
Will you chip in $5, $10 or what ever you can to support us in raising awareness?
Supporting this tour also helps to release the grip of our country from corporate control. The chemical companies only power they have over our government because we give them our money by buying their products. Together we can raise awareness and regain health, justice and freedom in America!
We need about $7,000 for the trip: $2000 for gas, $2000 for video editing and graphics for the video we will make about the organic farms we visit and the supporters and their stories along the way, $1800 for RV spots and $1200 for support for logistics.
We are super grateful that Dr.Bronner's will match donations! The additional funds will go towards support of the tour- the program support, T shirts, materials, flyers, lawn signs, and organic food donations to local food banks.
It would mean so much to us to meet our supporters, raise awareness cross country, empower action for healthy communities and donate to food banks.
If we do not raise the full amount, priority goes towards gas, materials and the video. We hope to raise more than enough to give freely to food banks and have plenty of supplies to give out!
We will connect with supporters and meet new people all across the country and bring them SUPPORT and SOLUTIONS!
It is simply not enough for your family or my family to eat organic or to stop spraying Roundup in our yards. Our children's future spouses are out there somewhere- likely eating GMOs and toxins from their food, neighbors and public parks. So this is a community issue, a national and global issue. One family at a time we can make a difference and protect future generations.
I will be so thankful for your support. This is my life's passion, and my family is utterly devoted to this cause. I promise your donation will make a difference for generations to come.
Huge Hugs from the Honeycutts!

Moms Across America is the brainchild of Zen Honeycutt, mother of 3 boys, one of whom had life threatening allergies. That is, until she found out about GMOs and helped her sons to avoid them. Her sons with allergies and autism symptoms that got better when they avoided GMOs and pesticides by eating organic. Later her second son experienced a sudden onset of autism symptoms at 8 years old. He tested positive for fungus, gut dysbiosis and 8 x higher the level of glyphosate in his urine than was found anywhere in European testing. Through an organic diet and restoring the gut bacteria, he is completely recovered. Passionate about caring for her family, and inspired by Robyn O'Brien's Ted Talk "Patriotsm on a Plate" and Jeffrey Smith's "Tipping Point Network" concept, Zen created a forum for Moms to reach out & encourage one another. The power of one. It starts a movement. And now look at us, marching in solidarity from Sea to Shining Sea in 172 parades in 2013 in 44 states! And 700 events since then!

Irvine city council voted unanimously on Tuesday to use organic pesticides and herbicides on all public areas!
Thank you to Ayn Craciun, Kim Konte, Bob Johnson, Laurie Thompson and Kathleen Hallal - the Non Toxic Irvine team!
We are so excited for Irvine and for thousands of cities across the country who chose to follow suit!
Read the full article in The Hill- this publication is the most widely read in DC, reaching 24 k politicians.
About half of the toxic herbicides and pesticides sprayed in the US are used in landscaping an public areas.
According to the CA Dept of Pesticide Regulation, 2014 records showed that 250,000 pounds are used in Orange County each year (home to Irvine), 75,000 pounds of which are glyphosate. Decade long studies show that pesticide/herbicide exposure lowers IQ in children. Other new studies show glyphosate causes cancer cell growth, reproductive and other organ damage.
Citizens CAN make a difference in reducing toxic exposure!
You can go to your city council members. This is another approach to make a difference that some people may feel is more doable for them - they may feel more connected to their city officials than Senators. Just a different angle.
We urge a few citizens of every city to approach their city council and ask to "use organic alternatives instead of toxic chemicals".
We do not suggest asking for a ban at first...only because it is much more confrontational and city council will be more resistant.
They need to see that they can still manage pests/ weeds without those chemicals. Asking to use a different method is not unreasonable and not illegal.
There are many great alternatives on http://action.greens.org.nz/sprayfree
Some states now have rules around not being able to restrict pesticide use without State Secretary of Agriculture approval....well this is not restricting but using alternative methods instead, which is perfectly fine.
What we have seen that works from the Irvine win:
- Get a small team and educate others...bring in a speaker or just a coffee gathering to talk about it.
- Meet with city officials individually first to have them on board and get it on agenda.
- Have doctors present info if possible.
- Then present at council for vote with as many citizen testimonials as possible. Parents of children with cancer are especially poweful.
- Coordinate media ahead of time.
There is much more info at Non Toxic Irvine.
So grateful for all their hard and smart work!
We applaud the city council members for serving the people of Irvine, something which our EPA and senators have failed to do. We hope our regulators and elected federal officials will see that all it takes is the political will to start protecting the people of America.
We hope you will be inspired to take one small step at a time to make a big difference for the health, IQ and long term future of your city!
If you do chose to take this step, start by posting your initial gathering on www.momsacrossamerica.org under EVENTS and get a code for a free box of materials to pass out which contains pesticide/herbicide info!
Download your "Creating Healthy Communities" printable flyer for your city council member here to start!
Have fun creating a healthy community!
